The Goodyear Eagle Touring All Season tires are designed for a luxurious and well defined ride, with comfort and smoothness being one of the main priorities in the design of these tires. They also have good fuel economy and treadwear ratings, making them a great choice for those of you who are looking for a tire that will last.

Best Performance
MICHELIN Pilot Sport 4 S Performance (Best Performance For Tesla Model S)
9/10We Try Tires Score
  • Best overall performance tire
  • Great wet performance
  • Fantastic grip at all speeds
  • Appealing design

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a tire that was designed with one purpose in mind, and that is to be the best performing summer tire on the market.

Michelin have achieved this by creating a tire with some of the highest levels of grip, handling and braking that we have seen in dry conditions.

In our testing, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S took first place in the dry handling and braking tests by a significant margin. It was also the second quickest tire in the dry around the handling course.

The secret to the success of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is in its compound. Michelin use a mixture of polymers which gives the tire fantastic grip in both dry and wet conditions, all without compromising on tread life.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is also very good in the wet, taking second place in our wet braking test and third place in our wet handling test.

The only area where the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S falls down is in its poor aquaplaning resistance. This is because the tire has a very wide tread width which causes it to float on top of the water rather than cut through it.

Overall, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a fantastic tire that offers class leading performance in both dry and wet conditions.

Pros
  • Best overall performance tire
  • Great wet performance
  • Fantastic grip at all speeds
  • Appealing design
Cons
  • Poor aquaplaning resistance
  • Expensive
Best Dry Tire
Continental Extreme Contact Sport (Best Dry Tire For Tesla Model S)
8.8/10We Try Tires Score
  • Best tire for road performance
  • Very good wet performance summer tire
  • Fastest tire on test
  • Also rated for much larger vehicles

The Continental Extreme Contact Sport is an ultra high performance summer tire designed to have the best grip in the dry and wet. It is the new flagship tire released by Continental, replacing the previously raved about model, the Continental ExtremeContact DW which has been with us for nearly 6 years.

When tested against its direct rivals, these tires came out on top as the best in wet braking and handling by a considerable margin. They were also the fastest in dry conditions with the shortest braking distance.

Where the Continental Extreme Contact Sport excel is in their performance at speed. With stronger turn-in bite and mid-corner grip, the tires feel very direct. There is confidence inspiring feedback through the steering wheel, and this allows you to make the most of the total available traction and torque.

Continental have said that the new Continental Extreme Contact Sport is a more bespoke tire with a carcass construction, optimised for all types of vehicles from SUV’s to hatchbacks and including electric vehicles and Tesla’s.

The trade off we found with these tires for all their performance is poor aquaplaning resistance, meaning they are unable to score top marks for wet performance. There is also an increase in rolling resistance, increasing fuel consumption.

For owners of high performance cars including Tesla Model S who don’t mind the high cost, and for whom the very best performance in the dry is as important as in wet conditions, The Continental Extreme Contact Sport is a fantastic choice of tire.

Pros
  • Best tire for road performance
  • Very good wet performance summer tire
  • Fastest tire on test
  • Also rated for much larger vehicles
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Not best for fuel consumption
Best Economy
8.7/10We Try Tires Score
  • Top performing Eco Tire
  • Highest rated tire for efficiency
  • Reduce overall running costs
  • Great grip in all conditions
  • Very short braking distances

The Michelin Energy Saver A/S is a Multi-Award winning eco-friendly tire. It is an All Season tire that offers all the performance you would expect from Michelin along with some of the best longevity and fuel efficiency available in a tire today.

The Michelin Energy Saver A/S has a unique tread compound which is designed to reduce rolling resistance. This reduces fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions and increases the range of electric vehicles.

In fact, Michelin claim that these tires can reduce fuel consumption by up to 12%, and increase the range of your Tesla by up to 15% per charge.

In independent tests, the Michelin Energy Saver A/S performed well, with very good scores in both the dry and wet. In the dry they offered good grip and handling, while in the wet they were very impressive, with short braking distances and good aquaplaning resistance.

One area where the Michelin Energy Saver A/S didn’t perform so well was in comfort. The tires are designed to be hard-wearing and this does result in a firm ride. However, this is a small price to pay for the other benefits on offer.

While they cant quite match the Continental Sport Contact in the dry, they did make up for it by scoring far better in the wet.

Overall, the Michelin Energy Saver A/S is an excellent all-round tire for your Tesla Model S and would be a great choice for any owner looking to increase their Tesla’s range.

Pros
  • Top performing Eco Tire
  • Highest rated tire for efficiency
  • Reduce overall running costs
  • Great grip in all conditions
  • Very short braking distances
Cons
  • Not the cheapest
  • Firm ride
  • Hard compound makes slightly noisier
Best Wet Tire
8.7/10We Try Tires Score
  • Available with Run-flat technology
  • Fantastic tire in wet conditions
  • Ideal for highway driving
  • Long lasting tread life

The Bridgestone Turanza ER33 is another summer tire with exceptional performance in wet conditions. It has earned awards as the highest rated tire for braking and turning on wet roads and also has been awarded the EU Label Grade A for wet grip.

The Bridgestone Turanza ER33 tread pattern is designed with high blocks in the shoulder area of the tire and a wide gap in the centre work. These factors work together to help disperse water from the tire surface quickly and reduce the chance of hydroplaning. In wet conditions the tires managed to grip well under heavy acceleration.

It also offers an 11% improvement on tread life over its predecessor, and overall scores well for fuel efficiency due to its design, offering low rolling resistance. Bridgestone also offers these tires with the option of additional Run-Flat Technology if you like the extra peace of mind that this offers.

We found these tires to be slightly noisier than other comparable tires, and not particularly strong in snowy and icy conditions. It also lacks in some other areas of refinement compared to other more premium tires.

All things considered however, the Bridgestone Turanza ER33 is an inexpensive tire that offers a fantastic level of confidence and grip in wet and challenging conditions. For this reason, we think it is one of the best tires for wet roads available on sale today, especially for the performance of your Tesla.

Pros
  • Available with Run-flat technology
  • Fantastic tire in wet conditions
  • Ideal for highway driving
  • Long lasting tread life
Cons
  • Not the quietest
  • Lack of sporty feedback
  • Hard compound reduces steering feel
  • No treadwear or mileage warranty
Best Winter Tire
Hankook Winter i*cept Evo2 (Best Winter Tire For Tesla Model S)
8.6/10We Try Tires Score
  • Highest rated winter tires
  • Quiet and more comfortable than rivals
  • Cheaper than rivals

If you live in an area with severe winter conditions, then the Hankook Winter i*cept Evo 2 is your answer as the best tire for Tesla Model S’s.

This recently released new ultra high performance winter tire offers excellent grip and handling on both snow and ice, while also providing a comfortable and quiet ride.

The Hankook Winter i*cept Evo 2 uses a special compound that remains flexible in low temperatures and prevents freezing in low temperatures, giving it excellent grip on both snow and ice. They also use a special tread pattern that is designed to give the tire extra biting edges for traction.

In our testing, the Hankook Winter i*cept Evo 2 outperformed all of its rivals in both the snow and ice handling tests, as well as being one of the quietest tires on the market.

It also leans towards offering the experience of a high performance tire with improved handling and steering response over the competition.

Overall, the Hankook Winter i*cept Evo2 is a fantastic winter tire that offers class leading performance in both dry and wet conditions, as well as being one of the highest performance winter tires on the market, making them ideal for Tesla Model S’s.

Pros
  • Highest rated winter tires

  • Cheaper than rivals
Cons
  • Not as durable as other tires
  • Becoming an older model tire
Best All-Season
Yokohamas Avid Ascend (Best All-Season Tire For Tesla Model S)
8.5/10We Try Tires Score
  • More affordable than competitions
  • Excellent overall performance
  • Good aquaplaning resistance
  • Large range of sizes

The Yokohamas Avid Ascend is Yokohamas flagship all season touring tire for a large range of vehicles. It has been designed with a focus on dry performance, traction in the wet and on vehicle stability.

The Yokohamas Avid Ascend features a mildly asymmetric design and a large contact patch with the road which helps give it one of the best all round performance of an all season tires that we tested for large vehicles.

It is this large contact patch which unfortunately gives this tire less performance in snow and ice. This is due to it being unable to evacuate the snow from under the tire and grip in these conditions.

It does feature a large amount of cross groves to help it evacuate water. It also is designed with a more stiff internal structure which helps give the tire a more precise and immediate reaction from driving inputs.

This does mean however that it is not the quietest tire which may be an issue for Tesla owners and this does worsen the more a tire is worn down

Overall, the Yokohamas Avid Ascend a very good tire in all areas, and is ideal as a slightly more affordable tire with all the characteristics of a high performance tire.

Pros
  • More affordable than competition
  • Excellent overall performance
  • Good aquaplaning resistance
  • Large range of sizes
Cons
  • Slightly louder than rivals
  • Worse grip and performance in wet
  • Becomes louder as it wears down
Best Comfort
8.5/10We Try Tires Score
  • Quietest tires for Tesla Model S
  • Short braking distances
  • Strong steering feel
  • Versatile in different conditions

The Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack is the replacement for the very popular Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. These all season tires are designed to offer the best possible traction and handling, especially in their quietness and comfort, which makes them ideal for electric cars where quietness is very important.

In dry conditions we found that they were one of the best performing tires. This performance didn’t quite carry over into the wet conditions, but they still offered plenty of feedback and the braking distance was shorter than nearly all its rivals.

The main issue we have seen with these tires is that they regularly don’t meet their advertised tread life of 80,000 miles. We have seen some tires last as little as 25,000 before needing to be replaced. This is most often caused by driving style but can also be caused by their softer compound.

Being called the QuietTrack, these tires are rated as the quietest tire for Tesla Model S’s. Where they shine is in their comfort, a point they also provided over changing road surfaces and over rough terrain.

These tires are not the most expensive which makes them worth considering. We would recommend keeping an eye on the tire pressures and to drive smoothly to ensure that they wear at an even rate, so that you don’t find yourself needing to change them prematurely.

Pros
  • Quietest tires for Tesla Model S
  • Short braking distances
  • Strong steering feel
  • Versatile in different conditions
Cons
  • Worse Wet performance
  • Prone to uneven wearing and premature tread wear
Best Longevity
General Altimax RT43 (Best Longevity For Tesla Model S)
8.4/10We Try Tires Score
  • Excellent tread life
  • Cheaper than rivals
  • Good steering feedback
  • Grips well under heavy acceleration

The General Altimax RT43 is an all season tire that is designed to offer a long lasting tread life. In our tests, we found that theGeneral Altimax RT43 lasted around 80,000 miles before needing to be replaced which is significantly longer than most of its rivals.

Even though they don’t quite have the same level of grip and handling as some of the other tires on this list, they still offer a confidence inspiring ride.

In the wet conditions, we found that the General Altimax RT43 provided good levels of feedback and traction. They also have shorter braking distances than most of their rivals.

One thing to keep in mind with these tires is that they are not the quietest on the market. If you are looking for a tire that will be comfortable and quiet then you might want to look elsewhere.

The General Altimax RT43 is a good value tire for your Tesla Model S and if you are looking for an all season tire that will last a long time then they are worth considering.

Pros
  • Excellent tread life
  • Cheaper than rivals
  • Good steering feedback
  • Grips well under heavy acceleration
Cons

  • Lacks comfort
  • Noisier than most in this list
