If you’re searching the internet looking for new tires to buy, you are likely to have come across Hercules Tires. If thats you and you’re wondering if they are any good or suitable for your needs, then keep reading!

Hercules tires has built a brand around being American tires for American people, and for years it has done a good job of providing the tires that people want. We hear a lot of people sing praises of their experience with Hercules tires, but a concerning number of people also wouldn’t reccomend them.

Here is our thoughts, what we know about Hercules tires and everything you need to know before you decide to make a purchase.

Brand Overview

Hercules Tires, founded in 1952, creates a wide range tires for many kinds of applications, weathers and terrains. The company provides a variety of tires sizes that fit a whole range of vehicles in the market.

Hercules tires offers a decent quality product, affordability, and overall good customer satisfaction compared to most other brands. Few other brands have Hercules’ guarantees, and no other brand can touch Hercules when it comes to harsh weather conditions and off-road driving.

Performance

Hercules tires offer enhanced performance on tough and rough roads, with solid responsiveness and grip on any rugged terrain. Their “Terra Trac” range of tires are their best offering by far and we highly recommend them. Their distinctive grooves help to increase traction, with the trade off of slightly noisier tires.

Hercules Terra Trac tires also have heavy, wide sidewalls for increased safety while driving. They have tried to make their sidewalls a little bit softer than their competitors to increase comfort and reduce the tires noise.

Unfortunately their size and aggressive tread mean that they function well at what they are designed for and will never really match up to other tires deigned to be quieter touring tires.

Where Hercules really falls down is with their attempts to make sporty and high performance summer tires for passenger vehicles. This is the “Raptis” range of Hercules tires. Upon testing these are some of the worst performing tires in all areas sadly and you should really stay clear of.

Longevity

Hercules offers warranties of up to 75,000 miles on most of its tires, while its standard touring tires boast an 85,000-mile treadwear warranty. You won’t be able to beat an outstanding warranty like this with any other brand. Hercules tires also provide various guarantees to cover any premature tread wear.

Durability is at the heart of the brands ethos. They aim to offer long lasting, tough and reliable tires that will take you off the beaten path and anywhere that you need to go. So far, customers have been satisfied with the longevity of their Hercules tires and it is something that we would say their tires can be known for.

Noise

As with any brand that offers chunky Hercules tires have a proven, minimal noise aspect, though noise might be increased in off-road conditions. The tires’ solid shoulders work to increase stability and reduce most road surface noise.

The Hercules All-Season Tour 4.0 Plus, in particular, is notable for its reduced noise capabilities. Older tires with worn bushings might emit squeaky noises, but contemporary models are well worth the price.

Comfort

Hercules tires are exceptionally comfortable and provide a smooth ride in all but the most extreme off-road conditions. Even when you’re driving over bumpy roads, the tires will keep you stable.

The center rib boosts easy handling and driver’s comfort. It also maintains traction and water evacuation.

Fuel Efficiency

Hercules tires are made with silica-infused gel compounds in the tread material. This material provides rolling resistance, decreasing friction between the tires and roads. The silica gel aids in the reduction of fuel consumption.

With great all-season tires like Road Tour, 655 MRE features a narrow siping. This sipping is 33% narrower than average, but does not compromise on driving stability in the slightest. The new designs offer better traction and handling to ensure efficient fuel consumption. All of these features combine to make Hercules tires the very best available.

Availability of sizes

Hercules tires come in a variety of sizes. They’re available in 14-inch to 18-inch wheel diameters. These options will cover the most common passenger cars, from compact cars and sedans, to minivans and coupes.

In 2017 Hercules introduced a new group of tires called the Terra Trac series. Terra Trac series includes the T/G Max, the Terra Trac AT II all-terrain, and the Terra Trac M/T mud-terrain tires. All of these tires are ideal for extreme weather conditions. They display excellent performance both on highways and off-road.

Some of Terra Trac’s unique features include:

  • A silica-infused notch with a chip-resistant compound to reduce damage. The chip-resistant compound also provides excellent durability and defense against wet friction.
  • A tread depth of 18.5/32nds enables the tires to cruise through extreme weather.
  • A square profile design, perfect for surface contact traction and tread life.
  • A self-assertive upper shoulder that promotes abrasion resistance. The aggressive upper shoulder also enhances the biting of edges for superb off-road traction.

Value/Price

Hercules has produced excellent, affordable tires since it first opened its doors in 1952. Their prices are bargainable and have proven particularly attractive to customers over the years. No matter the price, the quality remains the same.

Hercules tires are cheaper than some similar treads available on the market today. They’re not only affordable though, they also sport beautiful designs. Since the beginning, Hercules’ mission has been “To produce a range of products for great prices.”

      • I’m looking at this brand for my F-150 4×4 6.5 bed super crew cab. The shop that I use is affiliated with Tire Pro’s. I’m hoping they have the 275 55 R 20 in an E rated tire. Truck has 12000# tow package.

        • Thanks for your comment Tom. Cool truck you have there! Tire Pros should be able to sort everything for you and I see that they do stock a few different Hercules Terra Trac tires in your size. The E rating you are referring to is the Load rating, signifying it has the strength of a 10 ply tire! However “Load index” is a more precise method of measuring, and the tires you’ll be looking at have a load index of around 117. Hope you find the tires you’re after!
